Spring 2026 OOIFB Membership Update

The OOIFB is pleased to welcome two new members: Dr. Hilary Palevsky and Dr. Ethan Williams. Dr. Palevsky joins the OOIFB from the Department of Earth and Environmental Sciences at Boston College Dr. Palevksy’s expertise in marine biogeochemistry and the ocean carbon cycle, and her research that combines field measurements at sea, biogeochemical sensor data from autonomous moorings (including Irminger Sea OOI Global Array data), satellite observations, and and global climate models will greatly complement, and augment, the knowledge of current OOIFB members. Dr. Williams, a geophysicist with the Department of Earth & Planetary Sciences at the University of California Santa Cruz, will bring new insight and expertise in fiber-optic sensing (in seismology, oceanography, and acoustics) to the OOIFB.

Dr. Palevsky and Dr. Williams fill two open positions on the OOIFB that were vacated by Dr. Chris Edwards and Dr. Paulinus Chigbu. The OOIFB expresses its sincere gratitude to Dr. Edwards and Dr. Chigbu, who both served two terms as Board members.
